There are quite a good number of ways to do this; but possibly the quickest way to do this is by using a Linux machine. If you are looking to upload something from a linux server directly or has a stand alone linux server but you use only windows, then transfer the files using bitvise tunnelier and use the following method.

Its quite easy to scp the file or script from your local linux machine to remote server. Here is how it is done. Perhaps the example below should help.

scp -i myAmazonKey.pem thefile.txt ec2-user@mec2-50-17-16-67.compute-1.amazonaws.com:~/.

If you don’t have a linux machine or don’t have access to .pem file here is an alternate. But this one involves creating an account to private file hosting services such as dropbox.

So, you can upload the file or the script to your dropbox account, and get the download link. Now, use wget to download the file or script from the internet. Now, that’s one way of doing it.

Alternatively, you can use putty pscp, but this method requires using a ppk file. The following video explains you how to create a ppk file.

This doc here, helps you to transfer files from your local machine to remote aws ec2 instance using putty secure copy client.

I believe that you found this document useful and I hope you transferred or uploaded your files or scripts to amazon aws ec2 instances using one of the method I mentioned above. If you have any questions or suggestions, do let me know. Until next time, its good bye! 🙂
